The Binding Contract

From February 26, 2026 to December 23, 2026, I am committing to a self-directed MS in Research Engineering. This period is not about chasing intensity. It is about learning how to think carefully, build reliably, and stay honest about what I understand and what I do not.
The goal is not topic coverage for its own sake. The goal is to develop research judgment: how to ask better questions, how to separate signal from noise, and how to connect theory, code, and evidence without self-deception.
I will not rely on motivation as a planning strategy. I will rely on routines that make it possible to work on ordinary days, difficult days, and distracted days. Consistency is the mechanism that makes progress visible over time.
I will treat this program as a designed system. When something breaks, I will not frame it as a character flaw. I will inspect the process, adjust constraints, and continue.
I will use methods that improve retention and transfer: active recall, spaced repetition, interleaving, and deliberate error analysis. If I cannot retrieve or apply an idea, I will treat it as not-yet-learned rather than assumed knowledge.
I will hold high standards without romanticizing burnout. Sleep, health, and recovery are part of the program, because sustained attention is the foundation of rigorous work.
